It's all in the mix

The crucial question in cycling. The running properties of a tire's rubber compound are largely determined by three interacting factors - static friction [grip], rolling resistance and mileage. The dilemma: if you improve one of these factors, at least one of the others will deteriorate. A tire with maximum grip wears more quickly and rolls more slowly. With our BlackChili Compound, a tread compound that is always based on the latest findings in polymer and raw material research, we have provided the cycling scene with a lasting answer. Depending on the area of use of a tire, we adjust the compound formulation specifically - whether for road bikes or mountain bikes, for time trials or downhill.

For BlackChili, we refine special synthetic rubbers with proven natural rubber to create particularly high-performance tread compounds. We then add carbon black particles to these compounds, which in turn are optimized in terms of shape and surface properties. The complex compound technology is so sensitive that tires with BlackChili Compound are produced exclusively in Korbach.
