Izumi chains

Izumi chains for track cycling and single speed

Izumi chains are among the pioneers and leading manufacturers of bicycle chains in the last 100 years. Production began back in 1916 with exclusively high-quality bicycle chains. Izumi is still a family-owned company with headquarters in Osaka, Japan. Today, over 4.5 million bicycle chains are produced annually with almost 200 employees. The chain components are all manufactured at the main plant in Osaka - these are plates, rollers, bushings and pins. Heat treatment and polishing with surface treatment are also carried out in-house, these processes result in the striking appearance and are the hallmark of Izumi. The Izumi bicycle chains in the store are used in track cycling and single speed.

Development

Bicycle chains have changed constantly over the course of a century, with continuous development from one gear to twelve gears. Bicycle chains have become lighter, more durable and more efficient. Izumi's own research and development team is meeting these challenges and investigating new steel alloys for these new modern chain drives. At every stage of development, Izumi has influenced and driven innovation in materials, heat and surface treatments, and design.
All chains can be inspected and tested in-house to measure hardness, strength under load, friction and wear. This ensures that every Izumi chain meets the high standards of quality, efficiency and long service life.

The legendary Izumi-V Super Toughness is one of the few chains to be developed by the Japanese Keirin Association (NJS) for use on the professional Keirin race track.

Track chains from Izumi at HEUER

The bicycle hub is part of the drive system. The power should be transferred from the pedal to the drive train with as little loss as possible. Athletes keep asking us which chains we recommend. That's why we looked at various chains and measured them. We found that the Izumi chains are manufactured very precisely in terms of the rollers and the play in the chain links. And we have now matched our new sprockets for track chains with a roller diameter of 7.75 to this. The sprockets are precisely matched to these chains in terms of flank angle and root diameter, which virtually prevents the chain from climbing and ensures smooth, low-friction running.
