Heuer track wheel hubs - Made in Germany
The Heuer track bike hubs - Made in Germany are the result of a passion for cycling. Track cycling is cycling with a fixed gear. One of the sports that make HEUER hearts beat faster. Whether short time or endurance, this sport fascinates us. On the cycling track, the observer has the entire course of the race in view. Every discipline on the track has its own appeal.
The first HEUER high-flange track hub was ridden by world champion Joachim Eilersy. His positive assessment encouraged us to further develop these track hubs for series production. Today, these hubs are available for the track as well as for single speed and fixed gear for the road.
High flange track wheel hub
We have optimized the high-flange track hub with particularly smooth-running industrial bearings for the racetrack. The axles of the track hubs are manufactured in a single clamping operation. This allows the bearing seats to run together. The axles are made from pre-tempered CrMo steel. The axles are hardened in a nitriding process to reduce stress and distortion. They get their matt black color from the oxidation process. The bearing play can be finely adjusted.
We offer the hub bodies for the track in the classic elegangten style, finely turned and highly polished. Since 2019, we have also been offering the hubs for the track in anodized colours.
The special rigidity of the high-flange track hub is achieved because the hub flanges are turned "hollow" and inclined inwards. The flanges are adapted to the spoke angle and are inclined inwards between 5 and 7 degrees. When the spokes are crossed twice, the outer spokes lie exactly against the flange. This significantly minimizes "settling" of the spokes. In addition, the spokes are not bent over the flange. This reduces the forces on the flange.
The flange height of 80mm in combination with carbon sidewalls of 90mm reduces the spoke length to a minimum. This results in wheels with maximum stiffness that set standards on the racetrack in terms of smooth running and agility.
