The numerous spectators and participants at the "Rund um Keltern" cycling race in Ellmendingen were able to experience an all-round successful day of racing on the traditional 4 km race course with start and finish at the Winzerhalle. The uphill finish in particular, which had to be completed up to 22 times depending on the race class, demanded a lot from the legs of the cyclists at the start - but in return also offered the spectators cycling at its finest in the best weather.

The packed race day began at 8:30 in the morning with the older racing classes from seniors to youth. Roland Golderer finished 5th in Masters 2, while Hans Eberwein, Ralf Buss, Thomas Murphy and Willi Spiesz finished 8th, 9th, 10th and 13th in Masters 4.

Aaron König and Fabrice Gremmer started the junior U19 race. After Fabrice initially stepped up the pace with an attack, Aaron König and Max Bock were able to pull away from the field and extended their lead over the following laps. In the final sprint, Aaron König had the better legs and secured the first victory of the day for the Swallows. Fabrice Gremmer sprinted to 4th place, while Max Augenstein finished 13th in the U17 youth class race, which was running at the same time. Emily Fuchs also secured another podium finish for the Swallows in the junior category, sprinting to second place. Jennifer Becht finished 18th in the elite women's category. Swallow rider Katharina Becker had to end the race prematurely due to health problems, we wish her a speedy recovery!

In the main race of the elite amateurs, our Schwalb member Moritz Augenstein and his team from RSC Kempten left no stone unturned and rode to an unchallenged home victory with a strong performance.

The afternoon was then all about the youngsters. Nic Oelschläger rode to 9th place in the U15 student class, fellow Swallow Lena Deschner finished 6th in the U15 female class, Theo Turek took 7th place in the U13 class and Ben Deschner was 13th despite some gear problems. Our youngest Swallows in the U11 class, Lukas Drews and Jannes Turek, finished 6th and 7th respectively.

At the end of the race day, the beginners had their race over the shortened 3.4 km course. It was great to see that 33 children were able to live out their interest in cycling and get their first taste of racing. Elias Knaack came 3rd in his age group and Jona Reuter came first. Lorenz Golderer, who was practically born with cycling genes, immediately took first place in the U9 beginners' class, while Emilia Drews came 8th.
